Week 4 of Cakes and Quick Baby Update

These may be my last cakes for a while.  The pink cake was the last cake for my course 1 in decorating.  Not bad for an amateur right?  The Nemo cake I did the next day for a friend of ours.  Their little girl turned 2 and she loves Nemo.  I hand-stenciled the Nemo, transferred it onto the cake and filled it in.  Until I find the perfect black dying agent, just buy the black icing from the store.  Black is a pain to acheive in frosting.  Other news, our little girl is already six pounds!  She has also dropped to my pubic bone and I can feel every bit of it.  We'll do another belly update in a week and a half.  Bet you want a piece of cake now right?

A Dress for the Little Lady

I haven't bought anything for baby in a while, but this dress was 40% off and I had to have it.  I got textured tights to go with it.  I'm so excited to dress up baby girl.

Class 3

Monday's class this week was focusing on two simple flowers, leaves, and rosettes.  We had to decorate our cupcakes with shaggy mums and pom pom flowers.  My pom poms were rushed at the end due to the lack of time.  I also think a stiffer frosting for the pom poms would yeild better flowers.  It's all a learning experience.

Room Service

Stuart had a 3 day conference in West Houston that I got to tag along on.  Since Stuart's meals were not with me I was left to my own devices.  I thought I'd experience room service since I normally would never be that extravagant.  Needless to say, everything was delicious and there was way too much food.

32 Weeks

After discovering it's been a while since my last belly update here it is.  My belly button is my indicator of how much I'm growing each week.  It won't be long before I don't have one. 8 weeks to go!

Cake Decorating

This month I decided to take some cake decorating classes to expand my homemaking skills.  The first week we practiced stars, and learned about batters, frostings, and technical skills.  The second week we practiced borders, dimensional design, smooth frosting, and transfering patterns.  For the cake, I used gel to transfer a cupcake pattern to the surface and filled it on with a special tip.  Next week, we're doing more flowers, and cupcake design.

Tough Mudder!

This is Stuart looking much cleaner after the race.

Stuart's 15 foot drop.

Stuart getting electroshocked by the hanging wires.  Most people collasped after several steps from loosing muscle control.  Fortunately, Stuart made it through.

So the Tough Mudder is a 12 mile race with 29 obstacles through lots of mud.  It is more of a team building activity than a race.  The boys were very hyped about the experience.
